I’m an Air Force public affairs officer currently assigned to the Defense Media Activity-San Antonio. This blog is a chance for reflection and evaluation of current events, topics in journalism and interesting aspects of my daily being. I’m also a graduate student at the University of Missouri School of Journalism studying Strategic Communication.
My call sign “quiet man” was given to me following my December 2003 humanitarian mission to Kerman International Airport in Iran. I was part of a four-person U.S. team responsible for coordination of relief supplies following a devastating earthquake in the city of Bam and the first Air Force PAO to enter Iran since the Islamic Revolution in 1979. I’ve had some great experiences, but it’s the people and culture I’ve appreciated most about the opportunity to travel, learn and better appreciate the world around us.
While I may comment freely on a variety of topics, that blinking sign above your head (read along with me please) states that the views expressed here are strictly my own and not those of the U.S. Air Force.

It’s good to know your views are your own and not those of the U.S. Air Force.
